MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTIVE HOME CARE AIDE (SHCA)
TRAIN THE TRAINER PROGRAM
During this training, home care supervisors and educators learn how to use the Council’s new 12-hour Mental Health Supportive Home Care Aide curriculum designed to prepare home health aides to work with individuals with mental and behavioral health conditions.
Additionally, attendees are trained on how to provide the corresponding 3-hour Supervisor’s Training, ‘Partners in Care’. These curricula were created and piloted thanks to a grant from the Health Care Workforce Transformation Fund. The outcomes from the testing of the curriculum areshared with participants.
Attendees receive a copy of both curriculums, including the instructor’s guides and student handbooks, and additional handouts required for teaching. A corresponding DVD is also be provided. Nursing and Social Work CEUs are provided for this training.
